Ever wonder who’s behind the avatar? Our curiosity about our community members and their stories led us to ask. For our first “Behind the Avatar”, we had a chat with Anonymom and here’s what she had to share:
Why are you in VR? Why do you continue to do what you do?
“I’m in VR because I love creating immersive experiences that tell a story & bring together families and communities. As a mom of 3 I hope to see and be a part of how this technology can help teach through simulation since VR learning has a higher retention rate than traditional screen learning.
In my day job I specialize in creating content and helping others promote their products and services. With a background in Interactive Media and Visual Communications my approach is always centered around the user's experience. I love how in VR development, I can take all my skill sets and merge them together! I feel like it's the perfect medium!”
What is an interesting fact about yourself that most people might not already know?
“Not many people know this, but I met my husband playing Call of Duty on the PS3! We used to play sticks and stones and kill zombies together on a nightly basis! As you can imagine, gaming is a family passion!”
Can you walk us through the process of creating one of your recent VR projects? How or where do you get inspiration?
“I recently got myself a Divoom Mini Computer that displays pixel art. Having that in my office inspired me to create one of my favorite old school arcade game characters, Bubble Bobble. Creating larger than life ornaments that you could jump through to find hidden stars was totally inspired by my kids love of scavenger hunt games! Pixel Art Party is a fun family friendly game where you explore the different pixel ornament designs to find hidden stars and gain points!”
